Nice to meet you!
Hi! My name is Mindy Tran, and I am in my final month as an undergraduate studying Biology with a Spanish for the Health Professions certificate at the University of Florida. After graduation, I plan to take a gap year before attending medical school.
Before I share my future goals, I want to reflect on where my passion began. Growing up in an immigrant household was a blessing in many ways, but it also came with challenges. When my dad was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer in 2020, I quickly took on the role of translator, nurse, and caretaker at home. Witnessing my family navigate language barriers in healthcare deepened my desire to help others facing similar struggles. After his passing, that desire only grew stronger, shaping not only my career aspirations but also many of my personal interests.
Whether it's through learning new languages, exploring creative outlets, or immersing myself in new experiences, I’ve found that my passions are deeply rooted in connection—whether with people, cultures, or ideas. These experiences have shaped the way I view the world and continue to influence the path I am carving for myself.
Why did I make this E-portfolio?
During my undergraduate years, I developed a deep appreciation for learning about different cultures and societies. The University of Florida introduced me to a diverse community of friends from various backgrounds, helping me recognize the beauty in our differences. Inspired by this, I joined the International Scholars Program (ISP) during my sophomore year to further explore global perspectives.
As part of the program, we are required to create an e-portfolio showcasing the invaluable lessons we've learned. To explore my journey in ISP, please visit the ‘Experiences’ tab.
